Common Mac Problems and Potential Causes
Computer restarts spontaneously.
Random shut-downs and restarts can sometimes be traced back to recent software installations, viruses, or malware. Otherwise, it could be a problem with the internal hardware.
Unable to print.
This may be a glitch in the printer system. Try going into the Print & Fax System Preference, and reset the printer system. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, it’s best to contact the printer manufacturer.
Mac computer freezes during startup.
The most common reason you may experience glitches during startup is that too many applications are open at once, competing for disk access and using up a lot of memory.
Data from my previous Apple computer didn’t transfer to my new computer.
The most common issue in transferring data is that OS is unresponsive.
Load time is slow.
Mac computers can start to run slowly for a myriad of reasons. You may have a hard drive that is full or needs a memory clean up or the computer could be running on an outdated OS X, which is a reason for you to keep your system up-to-date. Also, whenever you start your Mac, a lot of things are programmed to load in the background. These items slow the Mac down during startup and during the time spent on the computer. In this case, a computer tune-up will help.
I can’t find an application I just downloaded.
New apps are downloaded to the applications folder. That’s where you’ll find it if the app’s icon is not loaded onto your dock.
The application is not starting when clicked.
Most likely there has been a “disk permission error” and some part of the app’s plug-in has failed.
